A few readers have been asking me how often I wash my hair, what do I use, what's my hair texture and although I reply to each person individually, I thought it would be nice to answer it here as well.
Back in March 2008, I listed my favorite shampoos and the only change is that I rarely use liquid shampoos now. Maybe once a month..
What do I use? shampoo bars. I loove them. They're packed with oils, butters, essential oils, herbs and are very nourishing and moisturizing. Sometimes, I don't even need to use a conditioner.
Which ones? My first love is Chagrin Valley Soaps. I started with samples sizes, then move to full sizes and now...well...let's just say that my little sister thinks that I have a mini beauty supply store and always shops in my stash. Check out as well Empressri's review here
Below are some of my favorites.
I also love LaVida Given By Nature Babassu Shea Monoi Soap. The smell Monoi de Tahiti is just addictive and the shampoo bar leaves my hair shiny and soft. Check out Empressri's review here
Last but not least, Anita Grant Organic Kelp and Ylang Babassu soap . I really need to do a full review of her products because they are amazing and worth every single penny.
On my to-try list:
- Karess Krafters Babassu soap and botanical bar
-Cioccolatina Rhassoul shampoo bar
- Karen's Body Beautiful Bodacious Beauty bar
How often? I usually wash my hair twice a week and three times if I exercised or during the summer.
Wash Day routine
- Pre-poo with homemade mixture which is honey mixed with olive oil and coconut oil or a homemade infused oil
- I usually leave it for a few minutes and I detangle gently with my fingers. Oh yes, it's official, I don't own a comb anymore. I broke my last comb 3 months ago and I just told my hair" I give up! Do what you want!"..lol..
- wash with my poo bar. I usually cut a piece and wash section by section
- I do an ACV rinse once a week with 1 part ACV, 3 to 4 parts of distilled water.
- I then use a conditioner.
- and conclude with a herbal rinse.
To be honest, I don't really focus on it. I did two posts in the past but I was using my cell phone camera... *embarassed* . All I know is that it's completely normal to have different textures and we should just focus on keeping the hair healthy.
But below are pictures of my hair...
I hope that helps :)

when it's stretched
my favorite style: a shrunken fro. Shrinkage is my best friend!
Lately I see so many coilies....I still want to lock but not right now....
