3 days ago, I was running errands and I stopped by Borders to get some coffee. As I was waiting for the red light to turn green, I saw that the car in front of me had a noticeable bumper sticker that said "Patchouli stinks!"
My first reaction was "are you serious? You must really hate Patchouli".
The second reaction was pure outrage: how dare she?? I am obsessed with lavender, vanilla and patchouli!
What kind of patchouli has she been smelling?
Patchouli does not stink at all! It is an amazing earthy woody scent!
Today I was craving for a sweet pastry and instead of baking a cake, I decided to go to the local bakehouse and see what they have. Guess who I saw??? Ms. "Patchouli Stinks" again!! We definitely need to have a chat about it. LOL!
I fell in love with Patchouli in Belgium. We often spent family vacations there and I would spend hours in a "Herboristerie" which is a shop where you can find a bunch of herbs.

I often made "sachets" of lavender, sage, rosemary and patchouli that I would stash in my wardrobe.
I also love Patchouli scented beauty products! I have to admit that I spent more time smelling them than using them.
For instance in soaps:
A shea-based body butter scented with Patchouli and Rosewood
I love it so much that I asked Lysandra, from Darcy's Botanicals , if she could kindly make a custom perfume spray

Great post. I actually don't like the patchouli scent either, but your love of it is making me want to sniff it again just to be sure..lol
A bumper sticker about patchouli is a bit much though..lol

Patchouli is a win lose with some people, but I love me some Patchouli by itself or with other essential oils. It is so earthy and rich like parch soil.
Such a fun read, lol. I haven't heard about Patchouli before so this was new for me. Wow! I need to smell it, I had fresh yummy blueberry bagels today and it felt so great...just a great feeling. I know that feeling...stay blessed Amina!

I love patchouli, especially when mixed in modest amounts with other EOs.

hmmmm I've never had the pleasure of smelling Patchouli - could you describe the scent? makes me want to try.
This is such a great post, had me smiling the whole way through. LOL
For me, most scents depend on how strong they are, and if they're mixed appropriately. I'll definitely be sniffing the patchouli when I hit the natural food store next thanks to you.
